graveyards need
ghosts to
haunt them).

Half-full glass, that gives no hint of the poison within;
I can catch a whiff of apple pie and chocolate chip cookies,
Baking in the oven as my children wait at the door for daddy.
I hear the half-truths. I smell the cigarette-smoke.
I see through your façade.
But like a fool I will cross my fingers
and continue to believe,
for I fear the inevitable
sting of
truth.
